Title:
The Science Behind Explosives
Description:
Be part of the action as engineers, geologists, and explosives experts take us behind the scenes through the process used to create a safe and successful blast of rock from the quarry. Join us from Bussen Quarry located along the Mississippi River in St. Louis, Missouri. Be part of the action as engineers, geologists, and explosives experts take us behind the scenes through the process used to create a safe and successful blast of rock from the quarry. Take a tour of the quarry and its operation. Interact with geologists to learn about the type of rock in the quarry and how it is used in road construction. Ask questions of the explosives experts about how they select which part of the quarry to explode, how to place and set the blast charges, and the safety plans they incorporate into the process. Countdown to the blast and watch it happen.
